This is an exquisite example of a late Victorian crescent brooch. The popular motif celebrates the feminine moon goddess and is associated with female empowerment, change, and fertility. Crescent brooches are also known as a honeymoon brooch because Victorian brides tended to wear them cradling a flower on their honeymoon. We think this would also make a fabulous hair ornament holing a small spray of baby’s breath or mimosa for a special occasion.
