Diamonds truly are a girl’s best friend!

And not just because the fabulous Marylin Monroe says so!

Diamonds are the birthstone for the month of April, meaning that April-born ladies and gents have an extra reason to ask for gifts of sparkling diamond jewellery (or buy diamonds for themselves).

But for those of us not lucky enough to be born in April, diamonds continue to be a popular choice for our engagement rings or jewellery. The reasons for this are plentiful and not just because diamonds are one of the most aesthetically pleasing gemstones.

• They are colour stable, which means that what you see is what you get. They will not change colour over time, like some other gems.

• White diamonds compliment almost every other colour gemstone, bringing brightness and sparkle to a piece.

• Did we mention diamonds are the hardest wearing gemstone? This means that their edges will continue to stay crisp, just like the day you bought them.

Although most people think diamonds are colourless e.g. white, diamonds are available in a wide range of colours including yellow, pink, blue, green, red and even black.
